This apartment has 720+ square feet of living space. This floor plan has a master bedroom with a double sliding door closet. This apartment also has a second bedroom with closet that could serve as a home office or den area. The apartment also has an open living and kitchen area, foyer and a full bathroom. A large terrace with canopy is located off the kitchen area, providing ample outdoor living space.
Apartments with open layouts have become some of the most popular and sought-after spaces available in Astoria (and other markets). Open floor plans foster family togetherness, as well as increase your options when entertaining guests. By opting for larger combined spaces, the ins and outs of daily life – cooking, eating, and gathering together – become shared experiences. In addition, the kitchen/living room open floor plan makes the space feel larger than the actual square footage. By eliminating walls and widening the passages to kitchen and living areas, a sense of spaciousness is created that divided rooms lack. In this way, even a smaller apartment layout can offer the spaciousness many people seek.
In the living room, there is plenty of space for a comfortable sectional sofa, lounge chairs as well an area for a large flat-screen television. Connections to the roof mounted T.V. antenna are also available. There is a spacious kitchen living room area complete with a stainless steel dishwasher, four burner range and stainless steel refrigerator and has plenty of counter space to both prep and cook meals. Floors in throughout the space were just replaced with high end wood and polished to a brilliant shine as part of a December 2016 renovation.
Modern bathrooms create a simplistic and clean feeling, the bathroom in Apartment 2 has been designed to be a sanctuary for cleanliness and comfort. Since bathrooms are spaces that we use everyday, their importance is far greater than we give it credit for. Positioned below the vintage tent shaped skylight is a soothing shower / tub just made for soaking in and complete with tiled sitting area. Large tile floors, lighted mirror, toilet, integrated vanity and sink complete the simple yet effective layout.
The Skylight. Like space, light is a commodity that can be in short supply in New York City apartments. The design of the antique skylight above the bath captures an abundance of morning, noon and afternoon sunlight. The skylight also small vents on the sides which can be opened by gently tugging at a pull chain. Once open, the vents let the hot and humid air out (essentially an old fashioned air conditioning system).
Storage. Narrow floating glass shelves above two towel racks that take up little room while providing additional storage space. Plus, it leaves floor space available under the shelves for other storage solutions. A vanity with under-sink storage shelves and matching mirror incorporate a balance of surprising storage in a small footprint.
The door in the kitchen will lead you to a large terrace overlooking the backyard garden. This terrace overlooks the rear garden and is shaded by a Shade Tree canopy and one of the larger trees in the area. The garden is maintained throughout the year and is very relaxing to look down on after a long day at work, making it easy to relax and forget that you’re just minutes away from Midtown. With this apartment, you don’t have to choose between a quiet life in the suburbs or the fast city pace.
Storage. While uncommon to have usable outdoor space in the city; this space also comes with the use of additional storage space in the form of an outdoor storage bin.
Canopy. The ShadeTree Systems Capri canopy is easily extended and tucked away and provides an on-demand escape from the summer sun while still enjoying the outdoors.
As part of a December 2016 renovation, the contractor grade baseboard molding and Berber carpeting was completely removed. Additional insulation was added between the first and second floor to further reduce the possibility of sound traveling from one floor to another. White oak hardwood floors replaced the carpeting and were framed with tall, white baseboard molding to complete a traditional look and feel in each room.
The master bedroom features two energy efficient, west facing casement windows, a large closet with mirrored doors and a in-wall AC unit.
The secondary bedroom has a single west facing energy efficient casement window, a variable speed ceiling fan and raised closet.
Apartment two has seen a number of projects to update the living space throughout the last decade, however 2017 is the first to address current technology.
